I Love Classic Rock v.1

I really have nothing against Gym Class Heroes.

TV on the Radio are superior in every way (in terms of hipster-friendly music made by black guys incorporating sounds of the "indie" "rock" persuasion), but Gym Class Heroes aren't bad.

Damn shame they're signed to Decaydance, buy I can't knock Pete Wentz's hustle either (even though he is a douchenozzle).

BUT

Why would GCH lead off their mall-indie-hop explosion into the mainstream with that song?

Couldn't they have led off with a single that THEY wrote, with a chorus that they DIDN'T rip off from one of the most underrated / overlooked British rock bands of the 70s?

I mean, sampling isn't new, and the infamous Puff Daddy / Sting co-opt back in like '96 is still one of my favorite songs ever, but I just take offense to the fact that these guys don't take more pride in their work and lead with a completely original song.

It's your lead fucking single (not counting their pre-major label days, you elitists out there) - put out something that's 100% yours.

Supertramp - Breakfast in America

She's a hell of a girlfriend, actually.
